CAG’s Artist of the Month…
Get to know more about the Brasil Guitar Duo

A 2006 winner of the CAG Competition, the Brasil Guitar Duo‘s innovative programming features a seamless blend of traditional and Brazilian works, resulting in a global touring schedule and a growing catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings. Duo members João Luiz and Douglas Lora met in São Paulo as teenage guitar students and have been performing together for 20 years.

The Duo’s first album, 2007’s Bom Partido, was also the very first release on CAG Records. After releasing albums of music by J.S. Bach, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Leo Brouwer (the last of which was nominated for a 2017 Latin Grammy award), the Duo have again returned to CAG Records for their newest release, Ghosting. Featuring works written for the Duo by Gerard Drozd, David Leisner, and Marco Pereira, Ghosting also celebrates Luiz and Lora’s 20-year partnership and demonstrates their maturity as arrangers and composers.

The Brasil Guitar Duo will perform some of the music from Ghosting at Market Square Concerts in Harrisburg, PA on July 23, and at the Huntington Summer Arts Festival in Huntington, NY on July 27.
