Words and Music

A Celebration of Songs commissioned by CAG

Kosciuszko Foundation, 15 East 65th Street

CAG presents a concert of 13 recently commissioned songs by American composers, set to the poetry of Lucy Miller Murray.  The one-hour concert features songs by Michael Brown, Jeremy Gill, Jake Heggie, Paul Moravec, and Richard Wilson.

Performers include CAG artists Sarah Wolfson, soprano; Mischa Bouvier, baritone, Yoonah Kim, clarinet, and David Shifrin, clarinet. They are joined by collaborative pianist Renate Rohlfing.

The concert is in honor of Richard Weinert, CAG President 2000-2018.

Argus Quartet

Co-First Prize Winner, 2017 CAG Competition

The Argus Quartet has quickly emerged as one of today’s most dynamic and versatile young ensembles, winning First Prize at both the 2017 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition and the 2017 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition. As the current Graduate Quartet in Residence at The Juilliard School, Argus is dedicated to reinvigorating the audience-performer relationship through innovative concerts and diverse programming. In that spirit, the ensemble’s repertoire includes not only masterworks of the chamber music canon, but also a wide range of pieces by living composers.

The program will include works by Haydn, Janáček, Juri Seo, and Christopher Theofanidis.
