Celebrated for his warm stage presence, compelling musical personality, and imaginative programming, Canadian pianist Carter Johnson is known for making classical music speak to audiences of all kinds. Praised by Gramophone for performances that are "sincere, communicative, and intelligent" and "drop-dead gorgeous," Johnson was a finalist at the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, winner of the 2025 Dublin International Piano Competition—the first Canadian to achieve either honor—and silver medalist at both the 2025 Honens International Piano Competition and the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.

Highlights of the 26/27 season include recital debuts at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, Spivey Hall, and Merkin Hall, a return engagement with the Montréal Symphony Orchestra, and concerto debuts with the Omaha Symphony and Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where he joins Angela Hewitt for Mozart's Double Concerto. He has also appeared with orchestras including the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain, Utah Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Victoria Symphony.
