Evren Ozel, piano
Delight in an exquisite night of chamber music with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in Rose Studio. In a program with works by Mozart, Schumann, & Spohr, CAG pianist Evren Ozel is joined by Tara Helen O'Connor, James Austin Smith, David Shifrin, Jake Thonis, and Eric Reed.
Note, there will be an additional repeat performance at 9:00pm.

Andrew J. Kim, conductor
Witness New York Youth Symphony’s first concert of the season led by Andrew J. Kim celebrating American composers ranging from Gabriella Ortiz to Samuel Barber. The Symphony will also be joined by NYYS Jazz as they perform Ellington’s “Harlem” and their assistant conductor will lead the orchestra for Christopher Theofanidis’ Rainbow Body.
OAK Trio
TUESDAY MATINEES
Three acclaimed young performers join forces in a powerhouse trio. Pianist Evren Ozel, 2025 Van Cliburn Bronze Medalist and Mozart Concerto Award recipient, combines fluent virtuosity with probing, thoughtful interpretations. Violinist Nathan Amaral, praised by Yo-Yo Ma for ”getting to the heart and soul of musical expression” and “drawing his audiences in with a great range of color and emotion,” has won many international competitions and performed as soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Cellist Leland Ko“plays with the beauty of sound and subtlety that we don’t often encounter in a cellist of his age,” says violinist Itzhak Perlman. In addition to being awarded co-First Prize in the 2024 Walter W. Naumburg International Competition, in 2023 Leland captured First Prize at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) Competition.

Presented by The Walter W. Naumburg Foundation from winning joint First Prize at the 2024 Naumburg Competition, cellist Leland Ko makes his Carnegie Hall solo debut!
Nina Bernat, bass
CMS’s holiday tradition continues with the joyful and astonishingly varied Brandenburg Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach. Join the musicians of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, joined by bassist Nina Bernat, for this spectacular performance.
Note, there will be additional performances 12/14/25 at 5pm, and 12/16/25 at 7:30pm.

ArcoStrum
This program highlights their broad range of musical interests and their commitment to presenting familiar works alongside less frequently heard repertoire. Transcriptions of Scarlatti and John Williams are heard alongside selections from Piazzolla’s The History of Tango and his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. The program also includes Ink Orchid Pavilion by Zhihui Li and Horse Racing by Haihuai Huang, two works that reflect the duo’s engagement with music of contemporary Chinese composers.

Njioma Grevious, violin
Njioma Grevious's playing “seemed to stop time both with its violin pyrotechnics and with its sheer intensity" (Washington Classical Review). Described as “superb” by the Chicago Classical Review, Grevious is a versatile violinist recognized for her exceptional contributions as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral performer. She was awarded the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Grand Prize at the 2023 CAG Elmaleh Competition, and First Prize at the 2023 Sphinx Competition.

The Katarina String Quartet
Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the Katarina Quartet has quickly distinguished itself as one of North America’s compelling young ensembles. Their program in the key of C showcases two masterworks: one of the delightful “Prussian” Quartets by Haydn, and Benjamin Britten’s formidable Second Quartet, his homage to the great English composer Henry Purcell.

Poiesis Quartet & Amiri Harewood, piano
Musicians on the Rise
In collaboration with Kaufman Music Center
Trailblazing chamber musicians Poiesis Quartet and rising star pianist Amiri Harewood perform a uniquely beautiful evening of musical homages and tributes. The evening is framed with Gabriela Lena Frank's Tres Homenajes for piano quintet, while Poiesis explores two musical homages in Tate's Pisachi and Nabor’s String Quartet, and Harewood creates a musical dialogue between Shostakovich and Bach in their respective Preludes and Fugues. An emerging young “ensemble to watch” (Hyde Park Herald), Poiesis Quartet is the 2023 Grand Prize winner of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and winner of the 2024 Concert Artists Guild Competition. Amiri Harewood is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 Concert Artist Guild and Young Classical Artists Trust competitions, and this appearance at Kaufman Music Center is part of his North American debut tour.

Music of the Americas aims to present artists who are both superb musicians in their own right and cultural ambassadors of myriad social and musical traditions, creating a vibrant space and a unique opportunity to hear distinctive and significant music. The Katarina String Quartet
The Schneider Concerts season closes with the Katarina String Quartet! Selected by curating/performing ensemble Ulysses Quartet, the Katarina will perform works by Vivian Fung and Franz Joseph Haydn, and be joined by the Ulysses Quartet in a performance of Felix Mendelssohn's Octet.
This concert is available as a pay-what-you-wish simultaneous on-line broadcast for those who can't attend in person.
