The Cerus Quartet has quickly established itself as one of the leading saxophone quartets of its generation, championing the dynamic possibilities of the ensemble through innovative programming and a commitment to new music. Sole winner of the 2025 CAG Competition, the quartet also captured the Gold Medal at the 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and First Prize at the 2025 Yellow Springs, 2024 MTNA National, and 2023 Briggs Chamber Music competitions.
Dedicated to amplifying the voices of living and underrepresented composers, Cerus has premiered works by Jennifer Higdon, Wenbin Lyu, Karalyn Schubring, and Ryan Lindveit, while also bringing fresh perspectives to classical masterworks through inventive transcriptions. Recent highlights include performances at Carnegie Hall's Citywide Series, Newport Classical Festival, Chamber Music Raleigh, and the Kravis Center, a return residency with the Interlochen Public Radio Sound Garden Project, and concerto appearances with the University of Michigan Symphony Band. Recipients of the inaugural Bohemians Artist Residency and the Robert A. Levinson and Patricia S.
