Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral, Grand Prize winner of the 2024 CAG-YCAT Competitions and First Prize winner of the 2024 Sphinx Competition, is rapidly emerging as a powerful new voice on the international stage and earning acclaim as "one of the rare musicians who not only possesses the gift of ample technical ability but uses it to transcend technique, getting to the heart and soul of musical expression" (Yo-Yo Ma).
A 2026 Sphinx Organization Medal of Excellence recipient, Nathan has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra and was named a Classic FM 30 under 30 Rising Star. He has performed at Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, and KKL at Lucerne Festival, and recent highlights include a tour as soloist with the Chineke! Orchestra performing at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, as well as his debut album with Chineke! on Decca Records.

As part of the CAG on Tour program, OAK Trio is a new ensemble comprising prize-winning soloists pianist Evren Ozel, violinist Nathan Amaral, and cellist Leland Ko, all alums of the New England Conservatory. The Trio program, entitled Common Spirit, seeks to explore unique cultural songs and dances - each culture’s way of capturing and affirming the spirit of its people. Here's a link to their program.
